How Are Writing & Reading Connected?
Reading and Writing are reciprocal communication processes. Our writing and reading tutors encourage this synergistic relationship in order to develop good writers and readers.
As students develop their reading comprehension skills and strategies, they learn to question why an author writes a certain way or uses specific words so they begin thinking like a writer.
As students develop their writing skills, they learn to revise and edit their own writing for clarity so they start thinking like a reader.
As students develop phonics skills to decode unfamiliar words they are also learning letter patterns that will allow them to become better spellers which will improve their writing.
At Reading Success Center we believe Writing and Reading are definitely connected!
How We Teach Writing!
At Reading Success Center, our experienced writing tutors will design writing lessons to meet your student’s individual needs. Our literacy teachers will help your learner develop writing skills and strategies that may be weak or unfamiliar to them.
Our knowledgeable writing tutors will address your student’s individual Learning Style and Thinking Style when planning and implementing writing lessons.
Whether your learner is writing sentences in first grade or essays in high school, all written work is created with a focus on the same good writing traits. Our writing tutors will teach and model the essential writing skills in the Six +1 Traits of Writing model.
All of our writing tutors utilize the Writing Process to help your student effectively compose written work in different Writing Genres and to understand which Writing Format to use to relay a specific message or to satisfy a certain audience.
Although our writing tutors are not homework helpers or assignment buddies, if you provide a school writing assignment with a school rubric the tutor will design a lesson to help your student understand how to complete that writing assignment.
